Wife of former governor of Lagos State, Oluremi Tinubu, said yesterday that she may not return to the Senate next year if the rot in the upper chamber persists.
Mrs Tinubu who currently represents Lagos Central Senatorial District in the senate, said she is depressed with various activities that go on in the Senate daily.
Speaking during the third year anniversary of her representation yesterday in Lagos, Mrs Tinubu said: “Senate is not a place I really want to go back to except APC becomes the majority. But if it is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government, I don’t think it is the environment I will like to be again. I have had my fill.”
Mrs Tinubu also expressed her disappointment at the action of President Jonathan for embarking on political campaign when the lives of over 200 school girls are in danger.
“Over 200 lives are hanging in the balance, but our president is still going around campaigning. A lot of lives have been wasted. As a matter of fact, human life does not matter again in this country. I pray that the eyes of Nigerians will be opened. Look at what happened in America recently because of one soldier, America was able to risk the worst prisoner, just because of one life.
She described the Chibok girls case as a blessing in guise as it opened up many other killings that could have been swept under the carpet by the President Jonathan’s government.
“This is a blessing in disguise. If the case did not come up, every other killing would have been swept under the carpet. See the immigration incident and we still have the minister sitting there and he did not have the decency to resign.
“What about education? What is Wike doing? ASUP strike, students protest and nothing has happened. I really don’t know the type of government we are running now. 2015 is coming and I pray that Nigerians will vote wisely and defend their votes”, she said.
She also faulted at PDP selections of Chief Omisore and Ayo Fayose as governorship candidates of Osun and Ekiti states.
