WHY WE ARE BUILDING A SCHOOL IN NIGER REPUBLIC, BY KANO GOV

Date:

Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso said at the weekend
that the state government is building a mega secondary school in Niger Republic
to boast industrialization.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen after the just
concluded 34th Kaduna international trade fair, the governor said
industrialization has its foundation in good educational background.

“Industrialization means a lot to us, especially in Kano
State, and it is beyond just building industries; it’s beyond just establishing
canteens and shops. Ours start right from primary education to secondary
education, to tertiary institutions. The trend we were used to before has
completely changed, and I believe that in many years to come, things will
change, so the best way to be relevant today and in the future is to be
educated. That is why we are encouraging our young men, women and children to
be educated. It is also for that reason that we have free primary education,
and distribute free books five times a week,” he said.
He stated that the state government has built over 1,500
class rooms in the past one year, and has trained teachers to ensure quality
education.
“We have so far built 400 houses for teachers in junior
secondary schools, especially the once outside the city of Kano to encourage
them. As we are sitting here today (Saturday) the deputy governor is in Niger
laying the foundation of the mega secondary school which we intend to run
together with the government of Niger Republic, and our children who will go
there will be trained in French so that when they graduate, they will stay
there and complete their degree courses or go to other French speaking
countries to do other programmes,” he said.
