…Decorates new AIGs
The Inspector General of Police
(IGP), Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday said the problem bedevilling the
police  force was not junior officers, but very senior officers.
Abubakar revealed this while
decorating eight newly-promoted senior police officers with their new ranks, in
Abuja.
“We have found out that most of
the problems of the police are not even with the junior ones. Most of the time,
the problem is with the senior ones. We refuse to do what we are expected to
do, in terms of leadership.

“No matter where you are today
or whatever posting you might take, we expect so much from you. There is no
room for monkey style. We expect you to lead by example,” he said.
Those decorated were three
Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs), namely, Mark Idawko, Mamman Sule
and Adisa Bolanta; and five Commissioners of Police (CPs), namely, Nasiru Oki,
Isaac Oke, Marcus Danlandi, Ahmed Ibrahim and Salihu Garba.
The police boss told them that
gone were the days when elevation to higher rank was viewed as a time to rest,
pointing out that “these days the more you take, the more is expected from
you.”
Idawko, who responded on behalf
of the newly decorated officers, described their elevation as a “great honour”
promising that they would not disappoint the IG and his management team.
The Police Service Commission
(PSC) had on January 30 this year approved the promotion of more than 2,000
senior police officers on the commendation of the IGP.
