The former minister of Federal Capital Territory and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Kaduna State has urged the people of Kaduna State to shun attacks on his person, saying he intends to run a government of justice and fear of God if given the opportunity.
El-Rufai who spent close to two weeks in Southern Kaduna told members of his party to jettison politics of blackmail and bitterness.
The former minister, who addressed APC members in Kafanchan, also condemned killings in the area which he described as ungodly and desecration of humanity.
On the way forward for Kaduna State, El-Rufai said, “We shouldn’t personalise issues, it is not about El-Rufai, it is about the state and the people. It is about getting capable leadership to run government with justice, fear of God and vision.“In the name of God, don’t blackmail any one; don’t engage anyone in harsh words, instead play issue-based politics. Like I said, it is not about me. I also thank you for ignoring fabricated hate messages being attributed to my person. Thank you for also not replying sponsored campaign of calumny, the beauty is, once you do thorough checks, you will realise that it is politically motivated, they have helped this project immensely because the society knows the truth.
“What we need immediately is a government that must sincerely invest in education, health, good governance, economy, infrastructure, population structure and demographic dividend so as to save the future.”
On the killings in Southern Kaduna, El-Rufai, while commiserating with affected communities, said “the killings is troubling and stand condemned because life is sacred and only God creates human beings and there is no reason whatsoever for any man to take the life of another person.
“All these killings are barbaric and unfortunate and so we must defy all odds to live in peace, accommodate and respect one another. Government must stand up and protect citizens they took an oath to protect; representatives must also take concern of their constituencies as basis of their representation.”
