Fubara Swears In 23 LGA Caretaker Chairmen After Screening By Assembly

The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has sworn-in 23 Local Government Council Caretaker Committee Chairmen, following the successful screening by State’s House of Assembly to fill the vacancies created by the expiration of tenure of the former elected Council Chairmen on Monday, 17th June, 2024.

The tenure of the elected council chairmen in the 23 local government areas of Rivers State who were sworn in three years ago during Governor Nyesom Wike’s administration had expired on Monday, June 17, 2024.

Thus, in order not to create vacuum in the administration of the third tier of government in the State, the Governor in consultation with stakeholder nominated caretaker committee chairmen and they were successfully screened and confirmed for the appointment.

Consequently, the  new council chairmen are expected to hit the ground running to implementation Governor Fubara’s administration vision for a new Rivers State, considering the monumental damage done by the immediate past Chairmen.

They are, Abua/Odua LGA – Madigai Dickson, Ahoada East LGA – Hon. Happy Benneth Ahoada West LGA – Mr. Daddy John Green, Akuku Toru LGa – Otonye Briggs, Andoni LGA – Reginald Ekaan, Asari Toru LGA – Orolosoma Amachree, Bonny LGA – Alabota Anengi Barasua, Degema LGA – Anthony Soberekon, Eleme LGA – Brain Gokpa, Emouha LGA – David Omereji.

Others are, “Etche LGA – John Otamiri, Gokana LGA – Kenneth Kpeden, Ikwerre LGA – Darlington Orji, Khana LGA – Marvin Yobana, Obia/Akpor LGA – Chijioke Ihunwo, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA – Princewill Ejekwe, Ogu/Bolo LGA – Evans Bipi, Okrika LGA – Princess Ogan, Omuma LGA – Promise Reginala, Opobo/Nkoro LGA – Enyiada Cookey-Gam, Oyigbo LGA – – Gogo Philip, Port Harcourt LGA – Ichemati Ezebunwo and Tai LGA – Hon Matthew Dike.

In a statement, the G-60 lawmakers said, “It is on record that the Rivers State Local Government Councils chairmen whose tenure expired on Monday, the 17th day of June, 2024 had wrecked monumental havoc at the third tier of government in the state because they were acting a script handed over to them by an emperor who still wanted to maintain firm grip on the state even after his rein.

“Therefore, those chairmen now former heads of local government areas were recruited to derail the governor from his commitment to returning Rivers to its lost glory. The people of the state and Nigerians in general can not forget in a hurry how those fellows dared the governor almost on daily basis since he took over because they were exercising blind loyalty to a man who had put the oil rich state in a dungeon for eight consecutive years.
