Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Alhaji Mu’azu Usman Gangara, showed up at the House sitting yesterday after 70 days of absenteeism.
It would be recalled that Alhaji Gangara and other principal officers of the assembly were removed by other members and replaced with new officers on September 24, 2013 over their refusal to attend the day’s sitting without prior communication. Since then, the speaker has been absent from sittings. Gangara was enraged over the development and sought legal redress. Throughout his stay in the ple-nary yesterday, he never said a word, our correspondent observed.
Meanwhile, a motion on the need for the protection of records and other matters related to employees in the state’s public service was presented before the House yesterday.
According to the sponsor of the motion, Aliyu Balarabe Jigo who represents Kakangi constituency in Birnin Gwari LGA, urgent steps needs to be taken to guarantee the protection of all records of employees, especially in the commissions, parastatals, pension bureaus and the local government service commission among others.
In his contribution, Bala Yunusa represen-ting Tudun Wada constituency stressed the need for the relevant committee to visit MDAs and parastatals as well as the local government service commission among others to see how records are being kept before making recommendations.
The speaker who presided over the sitting, Alhaji Usman Tahir, directed that the motion be referred to the joint committee on pension, establishment and training and local government for an in depth study and to report back on January 14, 2014.
