The supervising minister of education, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, has said no amount of intimidation and blackmail would stop the people of the Rivers State from supporting the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Wike, who stated this on Friday evening in the state capital at the 9th anniversary celebration of a Port Harcourt-based The National Network, said the problems of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, had not ended with his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said the governor had been economical with the truth about his defection from the PDP.
The minister, who received the “Man of the Year Award” at the event, said the conditions given by Amaechi for peace before his defection to the APC were selfish and had nothing to do with the interest of the people of the state.
He said: “What conditions did Amaechi give for peace: Give me the party structure, allow me to remain as chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, allow me to fly the state jets… he never said he wanted Soku oil field back to Rivers State.”
