A group operating under the aegis of Buhari Friends Organisation Network (BFON) has urged delegates to the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries not to vote for money but to try and put Nigeria’s interest in mind as they make their choice.
The group’s concern came just as the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention committee on Monday assured delegates of adequate security ahead of tomorrow’s presidential primary election in Lagos.
Addressing journalists in Abuja yesterday ahead the APC’s national convention and presidential primaries which would take place in Lagos, the national coordinator of the group, Athantius Okon, said the delegates should vote according to the dictates of their conscience rather than being swayed by material inducement.
He also urged the delegates to support General Muhammadu Buhari (retired) at the primaries to enable him get the party’s ticket for the 2015 general election.
It said the delegates should be aware that as stakeholders in the Nigerian project, knowing the economic situation in the country and the insecurity challenges, they have a duty to give the poor an opportunity to elect a credible leader for the country.
“In this case, the real electorate are only waiting for our delegates to decide as they have already taken a collective position to support a man of character, principle and courage, with political will to always do the needful. And that man is Buhari.”
