Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, yesterday said that the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Jimmy Agbaje, was never a threat to the All Progressives Congress. He said that the ruling party in the state would retain its dominance in 2015 election.
The governor, who also took a swipe on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over what he described as demonstration of poor logistic capacity to organise a hitch-free election, said he would do better than Professor Attahiru Jega, if he was saddled with responsibility of heading the electoral umpire. Insisting that APC’s governorship candidate, Akinwumi Ambode would defeat Agbaje in 2015 gubernatorial poll, Fashola said he would not handover to an inexperienced politician who, according to him, will rule Lagos by experimenting. He added that Ambode has a 27 years experience in the service of the state and would consolidate on his achievement, if elected in 2015. Fashola spoke at the maiden end of Year news conference organised by the state government.
He said Agbaje lacks the experience to take Lagos to the next level and that he would need more time to learn before he could govern the state. He said: “Agbaje or what? Threat to who? He is not a threat to us. Let’s go and check the result of the 2011 election. He got three per cent of the vote cast. Even his party, PDP we have defeated them back to back since 1999. They don’t threaten anybody. Ambode is going to defeat them with your support.
