Respite has come the way of the dispersed 2,000 immigration recruits who were irregularly issued letters of employment in February, 2015 as the federal government has reversed its initial stand by approving the review of their case.
A statement by the spokesman of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. Ekpedeme Kings, the decision to review the case is sequel to an emergency meeting of the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration, and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB) on the 11th of August 2016, where new guidelines were issued for the screening of the affected applicants.
According to the statement, the 2,000 dispersed officers would be subjected to drug test, certificate verification, and implementation of CDFIPB policy on age and rank.
The statement adds that consequent on the above clearance, applicants whose names were listed in the NIS website: www.immigration.gov.ng would be requested to report to the NIS headquarters Abuja with their academic certificates, birth certificate, previous employment records (if any), indigene certificates (originals and photocopies), 2 passport photographs, and in batches as would be scheduled.
The statement further explained that the screening which will commence from August 29 to September 4, 2016, will be done in the order of ranks beginning with ASI2 (CONPASS 08) and later to AII (CONPASS 06) and that the exercise will be done in the order of states, disclosing that ASI2 (CONPASS 08) is billed to commence screening between August 29- 30th.
