The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar, has warned the All Progressives Congress, APC, to desist from making comments intended to malign the force and as well question its professionalism.
The IGP who spoke through the Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, ACP Frank Mba in Abuja, said there was never a time that the force and other sister-agencies held a nocturnal meeting with high-ranking members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on the eve of the gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.
Mba said an official of the APC had accused the police of partisanship in the Ekiti election, specifically accusing the force of promising to deliver the PDP candidate, Mr. Ayo Fayose, after the purported meeting.
“The Police authorities particularly reject and view as unkind and misleading the caustic remarks made in a television interview by the spokesman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who claimed that a particular political stalwart held a meeting on the eve of the election with a so-called ‘Strike Force’, comprising the Army, the Police and Department of State Security, DSS, and instructed them to protect the interest of their benefactor.
