Against the backdrop of his political tent, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, Thursday disappointed those who thought he would abandon the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he said in an unmistakable terms that he had no plans to change his party.
Briefing journalists at his country home in Mbutu, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, Imo State, Ihedioha said he had no such plans to defect, stressing that he had been a foundation member of the PDP. He stated that this was premised on his initial stunt as the pioneer Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Demcratic Movement (PDM) that metamorphosed into the PDP, saying he would not abandon the party that gave him the leeway to ascend to the House three times.
While asserting his authority and confidence which he had gained from his colleagues, Ihedioha maintained that he had facilitated the employment of about 190 members of his constituency (Aboh Mbaise and Ngor Opkala, local councils) in various positions of authority apart from several federal projects he had attracted to his people and beyond. He said about 12 special assistants were in his fold.
A road project in Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area, he maintained, costing about N5.6 billion, was attracted by him, stressing that there were 12 other such projects in different areas in the state, adding that based on these, “it is clear that I am a member of the PDP.”
Ihedioha, who later gave his detailed score card to his people at Mbutu Secondary School, Aboh Mbaise, said he had not declared any stand to contest in governorship position in the state.
The deputy speaker said he had no boundaries in his political, economic and social relationships.
