Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced the sack of all the directors of agencies under his purview.
The affected agencies include Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigeria Civil Aviation Agency (NCAA), Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) and the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
The announcement followed the sack of managing directors and chief executive officers of aviation agencies by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Recall that the former Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika made some appointments of directors across the agencies at the twilight of the previous administration. The appointments, according to sources, had led to overlapping of duties in the agencies.
The Director Public Affairs, Federal Ministry of Aviation, Olusey Odutayo, in a statement, yesterday, in Abuja said: “I am directed to inform all directors of the following agencies that they have been relieved of their appointments forthwith and should hand over to the most senior officers in their various directorates with immediate effect.”
He stated that the change in the leadership of the aviation CEOs and MDs in the ministry is aimed at repositioning the aviation agency and to ensure safety and efficient air travel experience by Nigerians in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President.
He, however, said all agencies’ board secretaries and legal advisers were not affected by the directive.
