The Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, Thursday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.
The clergyman left the president’s office at 11.35 am soon after having a closed-door meeting with the president.
He left the Aso Rock Presidential Villa immediately without addressing journalists who sought to know his mission there. He simply said: “I have a plane to catch by 12.30pm”.
Kukah is a member of the National Peace Committee for the 2015 General Elections headed by former Head of State General Abdusalami Abubakar (rtd).
He had told journalists after the committee recently met with the president that the committee believed in the provision of the existing laws that everybody is innocent until proven guilty.
Kukah was at that time responding to a question on the view of the committee about President Buhari’s administration’s stance on corruption.
The clergyman had debunked allegations that he was against President Buhari’s administration’s move to probe corrupt former government officials..
