Reports out of Abuja indicate that there has been a major breakthrough in the investigation into Monday morning’s deadly bomb blast at the Nyanya bus park with the recovery of a body, suspected to be that of the suicide bomber who carried out the attack.
According to sources, operatives of the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) of the Nigeria Police recovered a slightly charred body with charms and amulets still on it.
The charms and amulets are typical of the type used by members of the terrorist group Boko Haram. A mobile phone was also found near the body.
It was learnt that security agencies are working on two known modus operandi of Boko Haram. The first is the use of bomb laden vehicle and the second the use of suicide vests.
In the first case the bomber drives the car to where he wants to carry out his operation parks the car and walks away before the bomb explodes, while at times the bomber, willing to die rams the vehicle into the target area and blows himself up along with the vehicle.
In the other operation, a would be bomber drops a bag of explosives at the target area and walks away detonating the bomb once he leaves the vicinity.
Monday morning’s attack at the Nyanya bus park left 72 people dead and injured about 124 others, with some suffering life-threatening injuries.
SORRY FOR THE GORY PICTURE!!
