WHAT I PLAN TO ACHIEVE WITH MY MEETING WITH OBAMA -BUHARI

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, expressed the hope that his forthcoming meeting with President Barack Obama will further strengthen bilateral ties between Nigeria and the United States of America.
Buhari is expected to meet his American counterpart later this month.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the president spoke at a meeting with the US Deputy Secretary of State, Mr. Anthony J. Blinken, inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Buhari said his talks with Obama would also give impetus to his administration’s efforts to overcome the challenge of terrorism.
He said he was also looking forward to greater support from the United States for the multinational Joint Task Force being mobilised against Boko Haram.
Buhari said Nigeria and other Gulf of Guinea nations would also welcome more cooperation from Washington to enhance maritime security in the Gulf and curb crude oil theft.
On behalf Obama, Blinken commiserated with Buhari and all Nigerians over the recent loss of lives in terrorist attacks.
Blinken said he was convinced that President Buhari’s election will further expand the frontiers of the existing relationship between Nigeria and the United States.
