AGRICULTURE | FRIDAYS DECLARED AS PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN BENUE STATE

Benue state governor Chief Samuel Ortom has declared Fridays as public holiday in the state.

The directive was reached during a state executive meeting presided over by the governor where it was agreed that it would commence on November 11 and end in January 2017.

The idea behind the decision is to enable civil servants begin harvest on their respective farms.

The state said its workers should use the last working day of the week for farming in the face of dwindling economy which made it difficult for the administration to pay salarie Civil servants working in the education sector are exempted as the state expects to maintain that the school calendar should be allowed to run normally.
