Salawa Abeni Remains ‘My Wife’ Despite Being Married To Another Man, Says Kollington Ayinla

Date:

Veteran Fuji musician, Alhaji Kollington Ayinla, has said that his entranged wife and Waka crooner, Salawa Abeni, remained his ‘wife’ for life despite being married to another man now.

The veteran musician, who held sway in the 1990s and 2000s, known as ‘Keben Kwara’ with his hit songs ‘Ijo Yoyo’ and ‘Kasabubu’ along with his dance style, disclosed this in a recent podcast interview with Teju Babyface.

When asked about his current relationship with the veteran female musician and Waka Queen following the collapse of their marriage many years ago, Kollington said Salawa remains his ‘wife’ and that he called her at his beck and call since they have three children together.

Kollington stated that in Yoruba culture, a woman that has three children for a man is still considered his wife, though they may be separated or not living together. He categorically said that Salawa’s current husband was only enjoying her on loan from him.

“In all honesty, God is the only one that can guarantee the staying power of a marriage. She (Salawa Abeni) was married to me and we have three children from the union.

“The person she is married to now, I loaned her to him. In Yoruba culture, a man that you have three children for is not an ordinary man but remains your husband. The person she is with now didn’t give her any child, so you see, she remains my wife and mother of my children,” Alhaji Kollington Ayinla explained.
