SUICIDE BOMBERS KILLED BY OWN EXPLOSIVES IN KANO

Two Nigeriens suicide
bombers were Saturday killed by own explosives. They were about to wreak yet
another havoc at Eastern Bye-pass, Hotoro Quarters in Kano when the explosives
went off.
Witnesses said that the bombers, who hail from Niger
Republic, were rolling a two-wheeled truck primed with explosives, pretending
to be water vendors. But a Joint Task Force (JTF) operative at a check point
became suspicious of their movement and ordered them to stop for a check.
Following their refusal to obey the order, the JTF operatives promptly opened
fire on them and in the process the explosives went off.

Following the incident, security agents took a
swoop on area and arrested four Niger Republic nationals, who are now being
detained by the Kano Police Command over their alleged involvement in 
acts of terrorism.

Officer, ASP Magaji Majiya, who confirmed the incident said details of the
explosions were sketchy at the time of this report.
In a related development, a man identified as
Matthew Owoniyi was shot dead at Dakata area of Kano. The deceased who was said
to be a shop owner was killed inside his chemist shop in the presence of his
wife and two kids. Eye witnesses said Owoniyi was ordered to lie face down by
three gunmen who called at his place at about 9 pm. They subsequently rained
bullets into his head and escaped in a Golf car with sales proceeds of the day.
