“When she told me that she was sick, showing
signs that I initially thought were that of pregnancy, I told her that I would
ask my elder wife to accompany her to the hospital. I was sceptical, because I
know that signs of pregnancy cannot begin to manifest just two days after
marriage. She rejected the idea of my elder wife accompanying her to the
hospital. In fact, as if trying to blackmail me, she said that if I don’t trust
her then she would go alone. That was how the problem started,” Danauta told
Weekly Trust.

her boyfriend one Abba DanBorno who is also a resident of Maraban Jos. With
that information, I made efforts to trace their whereabouts. I was lucky to
trace them to DanBorno’s house, but unfortunately she was not in the house
then. I continued searching. Fortunately for me, one faithful day I caught them
red-handed in a cinema hall sitting together,” Danauta said.

against me, and so many other things they did to me forced me to take them to
the Magajin Gari Shari’a Court. My intention was for the matter to be resolved

“For the three years I have been battling
these people, I spent a lot of money to get my wife back because I love her,
but the parents are making things very difficult for me. Let me tell you, I
even sold my house and three plots pursuing this case and this is why I am now
staying in a rented apartment,” Danauta said.

He said that at a point the court in Kwanar
Dangora attempted to reconcile him with his wife where he was asked to state
the amount of money he spent during the courtship and the expenses he incurred
during the marriage rituals.

“Let me tell you, I spent a lot of money
before I finally secured her hands in marriage. I saw her in Maraban Jos
selling fried chickens and that was how the relationship started. When they
asked me to mention the amount of money I spent at the Kwanar Dangora court, I
asked them to only refund me N170,000 but they offered me N70,000. I rejected
the offer because my desire is not to get my money back but my wife. I
initially agreed to the reconciliation in order to have a peaceful resolution

claim by Danauta was that Laure’s parents, the mother specifically, was the one
who ‘stole’ Laure from his house, the case cannot go on without Laure’s mother
